How it works

Botox and neuromodulators work by disabling the facial muscles that cause wrinkles. It blocks the nerve signal that tells the muscle to contract. It can be preventive against wrinkles since the facial muscles are sometimes contracted without you activating them, causing wrinkles and fine lines.

What happens at a Botox appointment?

Your cosmetic specialist will do a consultation to make sure you are a good candidate. Your goals, concerns, and cost will be addressed results last 3-4 months

If appropriate, your treatment can be performed the same day. It will take about 15 minutes. Photos will be taken. There is no downtime. You will notice results in 3 to 10 days.

Other neuromodulators, like Botox, work to soften and eliminate wrinkles include Xeomin, Jeuveau, and Dysport. They are all FDA approved.

What can go wrong?

Severe side effects of neuromodulators are rare. However, it is important to receive treatments from trained, skilled injectors. Although very rare, there can be bruising, heavy brows if too much is injected and droopy eyelids (which is easily remedied with prescription eye drops). Fake or counterfeit Botox causing death has been reported but never from a brand name manufacturer.
