During your dermal filler consultation, one of our experienced aesthetic providers will assess your facial anatomy and discuss your aesthetic goals with you. To minimize bruising, avoid blood-thinning medicine and supplements like aspirin, ibuprofen, vitamin E and fish oil for one week before treatment, if medically appropriate.
Your aesthetic provider will cleanse the treatment areas and may apply a numbing cream for your comfort. Most of our fillers contain lidocaine to further reduce any discomfort. Using fine needles or cannulas, your injector places the filler precisely into targeted areas. The entire injection process typically takes 15 to 45 minutes.
Some swelling, redness or minor bruising may occur and typically resolves within a few days. You can apply ice packs to reduce swelling. Avoid strenuous exercise, excessive heat and alcohol for 24 to 48 hours after treatment.
Results are visible immediately, though final results appear once any swelling subsides.
Duration varies by product and treatment area. Hyaluronic acid fillers like Juvéderm and Restylane typically last six to 18 months. Areas with more movement, like the lips, may require more frequent maintenance than areas like the cheeks. Radiesse lasts 12 to 18 months, while Bellafill can maintain results for up to five years.
Most patients describe the treatment sensation as mild pressure or a slight pinch. The majority of our fillers contain lidocaine, and we offer topical numbing to maximize your comfort. Many patients find the treatment far more comfortable than expected.
